Today was a really really good day. I'm feeling very light at the moment.
I actually had a lot of fear going into the day a few things I had to face which could have gone the wrong direction, but none of them did.
This afternoon I had lunch with a dear friend who arrived last night from Paris. My friend Chris is a gift. A beautiful soul, funny and so present. He used an analogy about moving in the wrong direction in life which killed me, we are both raised in LA so for you non-LA people sorry if you'll miss the point of this one, "you know Shanon when you're driving to Palm Springs and you get on the freeway and realize you're driving to Barstow? You don't have to go to Barstow, get off the damn freeway and go the other direction, you'll get to Palm Springs!" lol. He's so on point. I don't want to go to Barstow!!! I want to be in Palm Springs! (NYers this is like driving to Staten Island when you wanted to go to Fire Island, or taking the train one stop too far and ending up in Queens instead of the Bloomingales exit!). You can turn around and go the other way. It's ok. Breathe!
I've got a ton on my mind lately and I'm trying inch by inch to tackle each piece as I can. Even the conversation I had to have with my landlord was pleasant and supportive today, what a nice way to begin the day! Supportive, kind and understanding landlords in NYC?? Incredible.
Lately I feel really blessed by the people who have been coming into my life. Each one so compassionate and because I'm sober and present I can be there for them as well. An email exchange with my Taurean soul sister Marisol this morning made me realize how beautiful life can be and once again reminded me that people come and go, bringing their experiences into our life, be thankful for them, it's ok when they depart. That's life.
This evening I also had a chance to clear some air with a good friend who I respect and care for deeply. It feels good to be honest and say I get confused, upset, frustrated, etc. At the moment I feel at peace with things between us which is brings a lot of comfort. Since this person reads my blogs I want you to know I only wish you the deepest happiness in the world, you deserve it and I love you very much too.
With this I'll wrap up the night. Feeling a bit adventurous, something is coming.....I can't wait to see what it is.
