Spring Awakening

Ah l'amour....It's almost spring and my fancy turns to thoughts of romantic entanglements.

You really need to experience a hard winter to appreciate what happens to us humans in spring.  Growing up in California I never understood the excitement that spring brings until I moved to NYC in Feb 1997.  Ask any New Yorker about spring fever and they'll tell you...we get the gift every year, the hard long winter was worth every moment for that spring awakening.

It's about 4am and I have another gift, insomnia.  So my mind started thinking about romance, romantic gestures, the best places to be kissed in NYC and past loves.

First off for as much as I try to convince everyone that I dislike romance or even a romantic comedy, I love them.  This can be proved via my Netflicks cue, which is always loaded with at least one very cheesy love story. Beneath this hard exterior lurks the mushy romantic insides of a teenage girl, I do believe in love, true love and romance.

I also really believe in romantic gestures.  People these days seem to think that romantic gestures are passe, I disagree.  Yes I received my share of flowers, candy, songs and poems.  But you really haven't enjoyed a big romantic gesture until someone sings you "Never Tear Us Apart" by Inxs standing on a bar stool at karaoke in front of 60 strangers, big romantic gesture yes, not so romantic when you have to carry their drunk ass home an hour later.  Alas I still loved the gesture.  I also am the proud owner of at least four love songs written about me (when you date musicians they write you songs for most occasions).

Romantic places to kiss NY edition (some tested, some untested)....Lincoln Center in front of the fountains at night.  Columbus Circle (anytime), Shakespeare's Garden Central Park (anytime), MOMA or MET, top of the Empire State Building (although the wait to get there will kill the mood, if there is a line), Brooklyn Bridge Park, Prospect Park (anywhere), the garden across from my house, the steps of BAM, the subway platform (it works with the right person), Baby Cakes (untested, but how could this be wrong? romantic kisses and vegan cupcakes) and the mecca of all romantic dates Bloomingdales, what?  Yes, celebratory kisses when you walk out after buying a very sexy Agent Provocateur outfit for the two of you to enjoy.

So what's this all about?? Spring!!  It's almost here!  I'm celebrating.  My flu is almost gone, I'm feeling pretty darn good and I'm very open to the future.

Here's wishing you a very sexy spring awakening too.

OBSESSED

It's Sunday, right now I'm obsessed with:

-Lucy B lingerie
-Vietnamese Sandwiches (this is on going and has been for 1+ years)
-Creating new body and face scrubs using food in my house, the latest was avocado and sugar
-Listening to Italian movies while I do other things, I like hearing Italian being spoken
-The 8mm app for iPhone, oooh wee, this little app is going provide hours of fun for me and my friends
-S Factor Dancing
-Babycakes, this continues I ate one last night!! Yummm...No sugar or dairy! Or Wheat!
-TG-170 across from Babycakes, Terri the owner is the bomb, she's having a sale btw, check it out
-Taxidermy
-Used fitch fur coats, especially the one my Nana has and won't give to me even though she lives in Florida!!
-5" stiletto platform shoes
-MakeUp Forever Fake Eyelashes
-Clementines and the special benefit that they make everything around them smell so good
-Damien Rice
-Kimberly Ovitz Tilden Dress, I'm going to buy this week!

There are also a few things that I really really would like to do in my life
-The trek on the Annapurna Mountains
-Live in the South of Italy near Greece on the sea, potentially for a short period of time on a boat and sail around a bit
-Live in a house in Malibu that is all glass facing the ocean so it looks like the sea is coming into my living room every day while I drink coffee in bed

I'm sure I'll get to each of these eventually.  The Annapurnas I'm planning to hit in 2012.  What an adventure that will be.
Hope your Sunday is treating you well.  I'm going to spend the rest of the day napping and snacking on clementines.
